Vampires

Today, I indulged in Ghost Hunt. Shadow's fanfiction page is almost like the actual novel itself! I can't help but read the cases there.. Ahh..I'm a hopeless NaruxMai fan.

I finished Dracula. It was pretty good. Too bad Count Elizabeth Báthory wasn't in it. It turns out she probably inspired Bram Stoke to write Dracula. She was rumored to have soaked in maidens' blood in order to preserve her youth. (creepy, right?)

Wow, I haven't posted an entry in forever... Senior year is over, and I'm going to LSU under Biomedical Engineering.

I'm getting into vampire stuff now. I'm almost done with reading Dracula. Funny thing is, even though I've read lots of other vampire books, I haven't read the one that started them all--Dracula.

I drew out a fancomic of Ghost Hunt! Actually, I don't know if it can be considered a fancomic because I didn't make up the story... It's more like, I drew out a scene in Ghost Hunt. You can read it online at ghosthunt.awardspace.com, or you can download it at Deviantart.

Tampa, Florida

Tomorrow I'm going to Tampa, Florida for the National Mu Convention. Obviously I won't win anything, so I'm just going there for fun =D

My mom keeps saying I had too much fun this summer. She's kinda right, since I went to China for June.

Going to China is sooo cool. I bought lots of stuff:

1. Manga - Fruits Basket up to vol. 24
Detective Conan up to vol. 19
Detective Conan (official) 54-56
Tsubasa 5-7
Bleach 30-35

2. Anime - Fruits Basket (whole series) (official)
Ranma 1/2 (most of series)
Cardcaptor Sakura (most of series)
Hayao Miyazaki (all movies)
Bleach (filler episodes)

3. Automatic pencils & pens (cute ones)
4. Notebooks and folders (cute ones)

One thing I love about China is the bootlegs. They're all so cheap! But even the non-bootlegs are cheap to me. I only bought a few things that were official xD

I've recently been on a rampage of creating icons. I think I'll open an icon journal soon.

UGGGHH

My report card is so ugly!

C American History AP
C English III AP
B Spanish IV AP
B Chemistry AP

Last year it as only a B in Trig. H...

Next year I won't take so many AP classes.

ENGLISH (rant)
I couldn't answer one of the questions in the essay test, and I gave bad answers for another question. And the test I got a 107/160 on that Huckleberry Finn test! (other people got at least 120)

Man, I'm like doomed in english >.> Last time I checked, I had a 81% in the class (before the 107/160). Now I have to work my butt off to keep a C. The tests are too hard.

And Calculus final is the coming Friday, and I still dunno %*#@ about Calculus =.=;

It would help if the teacher were any better at teaching.

Stuff

I haven't been doing much online lately. I kinda want to join some icontests though, so I made 3 icons for one yesterday. I think one of them will place =)

In the meantime, Detective Conan is so awesome! His deductive skills are amazing.

The Virginia Tech Massacre was terrible. Cho was crazy. He planned everything out. A lot of the Asians will leave that university now...

To Say or Not to Say

Edit: I have replaced most ambiguous pronouns with actual names! wow~
Guess who sold 5 pizza cards?! -- Me! Well, to be more specific, my sister =P. I got her to sell them for me. It's so much easier, and it's actually effective. I got the idea from the show "Arthur," who had gotten his younger sister to sell something for him. It's harder for adults to refuse to kids than to teens. It's my first time actually getting something sold. I have to use her more in the future.

It's sad that former close friends can turn into total enemies. Iremember back in middle school, these two girls (Rhonna and Cathy) were really close toeach other. They seemed to be best friends. Some drama happened in 9th grade (according to Cathy), and the two never fixed their relationship. Now they hate eachother.  They keep talking behind each other's backs.

"Did you hear her coughing in the lab? She was so exaggerating it." (Rhonna)
"You know ___? She's a b---!" "Do you think she's pretty?" (Cathy)

It's amazing how such close friends can become such spitefulenemies. I had thought they were still good friends until last week, when Lucy brought the topic up while talking to Cathy. I was surprised, but if they stopped being friends since 9th grade, that sure shows how observant I am XD

(Excuse me Shela, for borrowing your idea of using quotes/icons. It's been so long since I've made an icon ;)

"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all." ~ Ronald Reagan

I wonder. If someone (you're not familiar with) is botheringyou, should you tell that person that? I usually don't. I have a friend who has to work with someone who bothers her. If he doesn't likeworking with her, how would she telling him his faults make the situation better? Right now there is someone I must work with who gets annoying at times. She is probably annoyed with me too. Most of thetime I don't tell her that, of course. If I did, she would get angrier with me. Actually, I did get annoyed enough today to tell her, and that no doubt got her more annoyed with me XD. I'll control myself more next time.

Lately I've noticed that most people will not tell someone if he/she is bothersome. In fact, I know 5 people who have done that this schoolyear. I told Wubing why Sree dislikes being with her,and she got that settled. She wanted to know why he didn't like being with her, so she asked him, and things turned out pretty good. I guessin some cases, it is better to tell people their faults. Some peopleactually want to know. I guess I'm kinda stuck in the mindset that you should keep your negative opinions to yourself (speaking fromexperience, btw).

On the other hand, some things are better kept secret. Celia told Allen about Yiyao's opinion about him, andhe tried to change (only to make Yiyao more uncomfortable XD. She says it seems like he's forcing himself to be nice XD) I think it's hilarious. It is nice of him to actualyl go out of his way to do that tho. It's so fun listening to her complaints about him on the bus ("I want to pour acid on his head!"), especially when it's about his rudeness. Yiyao is, however, one of those people who is used to being treated with respect. Hence why she exaggerates his "rudeness". I can go on and on about how rude she makes him out to be, but I'll save that for later.

Wubing's marriage joke wabout the two was even funnier ("you know in those dramas where the guy and girl start off hating each other? And then they end up marrying in the end?). I think I'd loveto see his reaction to that. That would be so funny. That sure got abig laugh outta all of my friends. It's all just a joke, of course.Plus, Celia is like a mediator btwn the two. Yiyao and Allen won't talk to each other about this stuff, but Celia tells them instead. I love listening to their conflicts b/c they're very funny. Someone should make a story outta it.

Whether or not you should tell someone about his/her faults reallydepends on the person/situation. For now, I may consider so-and-so'spersonality before keeping things secret.

Edit: As for now, I'llmention names. Unless it's about someone whom you guys seem to be closeto. I should get an F on ambiguous pronouns XP. Whenever Cathy complains about Wubing to me, I always tell Wubing...she's a close friend, and she likes being aware of things. Of course, if someone is reading my entry, that person may tell so-and-so about me complaining about them. I do it, so I think it's rather likely that other peoplemay do it too. And that can create conflict, which I usually try toavoid (or try to). Plus, some of the stuff I post is a one-day thing. I feel angry about something one day, then I totally get over it the next day. Writing (or typing, in thsi case) it down kinda helps.

I didn't actually notice the privacy part until recently. I'm not always signed in; half the time I have to log in again when I get online, so making entries protected prevents me from viewing them in my public preview. Wow, I'm so lazy...

And also.. Dr. Coto has to get it in her head that no one understands the AP practice book. Jumping from the textbook to the endof the AP practice book = murder. The AP practice book is 10X, no--100X harder than the normal textbook. And she now grades the AP practicebook (homework) for accuracy. The problem is, she believes that us non-hispanic ppl can listen to a 5-minute audio recording (without seeing the questions that will beasked) and understand it all. She is crazy. Loca.

The reading comprehension is...X.x...I can't understand half thewords, yet I have to answer the questions, which ask me to comprehend the passage. But it's not that bad---compared to the listening comprehension. Listening to a tape for 5 minutes without seeing the questions (we only saw the answer choices) was hard. I have to actually understand/remember what the audio talking about, then listen to the questions and answer them--which I can't do. And even though everyone has a 2/9, she still doesn't realize that no one understands it. She's giving us practice AP problems and grading them for accuracy. If Ms. Parker had done that, everyone would have a 60/100.And since Dr. Coto does do that, everyone had an F on the hw grammar assignment; the instructions were so vague in the 2nd part. With the exception of the hispanic speaking ppl (21/42 --hispanic; 34/42 -- hispanic with help from his mother; everyone else---10/42). And the thing is, we all tried. So whatever you do, don't take Spanish IV AP! It's not worth it! Anyway, I will try to raise my grade...though whatever I do may be in vain.

And Dr. Coto wants to speak with Cathy and my parents about my tardiness. 0.0 Yeah, a conference about tardiness. The only reason I'm tardy in the morning is b/c Cathy comes too late! She needs to come earlier. 5 minutes earlier. Just 5 minutes. If she doesn't do that, I need to stop carpooling with her. I have been rather lucky with tardies though. In total I have 7 tardies (2 the teacher let me go on, 2 when there were subs., 3 excused tardies b/c of spirit savers), and none of them are unexcused ones. I told her the "conferences" were unneeded b/c I would take care of them.

I admit I haven't been updating LJ much. I've been more into xanga, actually. Some of my real-life friends are there. And since I'm lazy, I'll just copy-and-paste my xanga entry XD

I finally was able to cook my own breakfast successfully! I made the 蛋羹 dan geng (some egg thing...) successfully~ I suck at cooking. The process is actually pretty simple, but I goofed up on it a lot anyway (stir 2 eggs, put water with salt in it, put it in pot). At first, I either added too much or too little water, added water that wasn't hot enough, stirred the egg too much or too little, or a combination of the above. The final product is supposed to be solid and straight, but I've gotten bumpy ones, soggy ones, and even breaking-apart-ones. I also asked my mom, "Is this edible?" several times. I've tried for several weeks now -.-; Today is the first day I've gotten it perfectly! yaaay

And I played badminton today with Chad. He helped me out by giving me lots of tips, which I'm grateful for. Hopefully, with practice, I'll get better at this. I had to reassure my parents that I had time for it, with PSAT coming up.  Now I can serve correctly (and with some accuracy too)~. I'm still at a loss on how to shift my weight and how to turn my torso when hitting the ball though... I didn't do that on Friday at all, which might explain why my arm was sore afterwards (since I only used my arm to return it and not my whole body) either that, or I really need to exercise more.

And now, my lower arm and shoulder hurts. What fun. Must be the result of not exercising much XD. None of that hurts when I'm playing, but afterwards... I hope it gets better tomorrow since I have to carry my stupid booksack. When I played this with friends/parents' friends, they never hit it really hard, so I never had to hit it hard in return. It's a lot different playing like this, but funner too. I should go there regularly to play. That way I can get used to this stuff & improve. My dad's quite supportive of it since he thinks I need the exercise, which is good because some parents could care less about exercise.

Badminton's so much funner than swimming; when I swim, I do it by myself, and none of my friends go swimming. Period. I liked it a lot more when I was a kid, but back then all my friends went with me. I did it in the summer for exercise, but now I'm too lazy. It's not that fun. Hence why I'm always coming up with a lame excuse whenever my dad asks if I want to go swimming =P.

Forget about Am. Hist., that project can wait a week. My partner and I will finish it in 2 days. He's not that into starting either early. If we can finish it on Saturday, then I can go play badminton on Sunday, though that's rather unlikely .__. Mrs. Richard gives too much usless crap. And Zinn is pointless, but I won't B.S. it in the event that she decides to pick it up tomorrow.

Work

I spent most of the day doing Ms. Richard's work X.x

At least I finished finding all of the information I need for the New England and Middle colonies. I just need to do the Southern ones now. And after that, I need to go read the book and define the terms for chapters 2-4   <such a procrastinator

Doing this project is soooo boring. When I was finishing up the Middle colonies part, I started humming to a song on the computer and talking to myself. Oh, the things boredom can do to a person.

I also need to study for Am. History test, Math test, and Chemistry test. Ms. Richard's project takes too long. Or maybe I'm just slow at gathering information.

On the other hand, I learned how to cook this egg thing for breakfast. I'm not sure what it's called though u_u; I might make cake later this week; I haven't made cake for since...6th grade. I can't remember what to do after mixing the egg with the cream cheese...

I was hole punching some work for Ms. Richard's class, and I accidentally hole-punched myself. In fact, the top layer of my skin has a roundish curve...(apparently where the "hole" was supposed to be XD). I had to put a lot of pressure on it for it to stop bleeding.

It was fun telling my friends that, actually. One of them got grossed out and the other laughed xD.

Ms. Richard is so annoying... She gave us a buncha work (all due Monday) when she knows we have a big project due Wednesday. But of course, "the course was much harder when I took it, so I don't feel sorry for you at all." And teachers (namely social studies ones) usually give one chapter per test, and sometimes even two chapters per test. But four chapters per test is a bit too much. But then again, she's probably too lazy to make a test for each chapter.

I got my mom to show me how to fry fish and dong gua (wintermelon, I think). I might try frying some vegetable next week. Cooking is kinda like my chemistry labs, actually. Except instead of using oxygen, we have to use propane gas. I just hope that nothing splatters when I try it out.

First week and I'm already tired.

Calculus AP is so hard. I'm still trying to understand the first lesson. American History seems okay. It's certainly more interesting than Free Enterprise (then again, everything is more interesting than Ms. Low).

Look at this! It's *gasp*Calculus! (though we're not there yet)

I still have to finish Am. History hw and Chemistry II AP hw. I think I forgot everything in Chem. >.>

Edit // Webdesign: Everyone seems to make a big deal out of things. Just because a few people are expressing their [harsh] opinions in their blogs doesn't mean you have to listen or agree with them. And it certainly doesn't mean you should stop webdesign altogether just because of them.

Some people are quitting because it's "not fun" since everyone's judging each other. It'd be better to just ignore those people instead of quitting your site.

Sister's Birthday

Today's my sister's birthday! She just turned eight. I gave her a bracelet and a necklace.

The raccoons are back.

And they're hanging on the top of the shi gua (chinese name of a type of vine) canopy.

I can just imagine it: I'm walking towards the rabbits' cages, and then the raccoon scratches my head...

(I really shouldn't have gone to feed the rabbits at midnight in the dark. It's really creepy having some creature jump out at you in the dark.)

Teaching Sister

My sister wakes up at 12:00 P.M. and I have to tutor her in english. And so I made her do a 3rd grade book, which took 2 hours. She did about 4 pages. She also forgot what rhyming and opposites meant -.-;

I was going to watch American Dragon, but it was an old episode, so I didn't.

Then I had to get my sister to learn time tables, which wasn't that bad.

I realized FMA ch 61 is out! I have to read that. I really want to know what happened to Roy. (If you happened to read it, don't you dare post spoilers! Or I'll bite your head off! >:3

Oh look, maybe I'll actually start updating regularly!

Die State Rally! Memoirs of a Geisha

I just took the State Rally (Spanish III) and it was hard! The reading comprehension questions didn't even go in order. And the questions didn't exactly match the passage; it was all reworded. Some of the words I didn't know about appeared in the questions >.<. And the grammar was hard too. I didn't expect past perfect, pluperfect participle, conditional,  future tense, etc (all the other difficult ones). And we had to decide when to use which. And the culture questions weren't like "What's the capitol of Argentina?". It was more like

(insert random spanish word here) is a
A. dance from Argentina
B. dessert from Mexico
C. name of a type of clothing from Nicaragua...
                         And
Who discovered Argentina?
A. De Soto
B. .....

I just hope I don't end up in 10th or lower place.
In the meantime, I finished Memoirs of a Geisha! I suppose you can say it gave me the same feeling I felt after reading Great Expectations. Actually, it's quite similar to Great Expectations. The main characters mess up their life because of someone they love. Sayuki was so mean. She only wanted to be a geisha because of the chairman. Then she pushed Hatsumomo and Pumpkin (who was very nice and helped her!) out. In the end, she didn't want to be a geisha and Mother's place was destroyed. Pumpkin  would've gladly kept up Mother's home! She destroyed her friendship with Pumpkin. And the man who was fiercely loyal to her and wanted to be her donna/husband...well she kinda just rejected him. Nabu was so nice to her too. He liked her company even though she was so much younger, he helped her out when she was in trouble during the Great Depression, he loved her and he took care of her. But Sayuki couldn't stand the idea of being with Nabu instead of the Chairman, and she was cruel. She seduced the minister so Nabu would get angry and stop liking her. And the minister didn't even mind being seduced! When she seduced him, I hoped she'd get pregnant because she's such an ungrateful brat (and needs to learn a lesson about making out whenever she wants to) ! I don't see what's so great being with the Chairman since the Chairman was married already, whereas Nabu wasn't married.

Poor Nabu...he tried to do something nice by protecting someone in a battle and got terrible burns as a result. After that, no one wanted to hire him except the Chairman. And then after seeking Sayuri's hand for several years, she completely rejects him by doing the one thing he couldn't stand. And she did it intentionally too. She ended up being the Chairman's mistress though, at the cost of Nabu's valuable friendship. In the end, I think Sayuri's just as bad as Hatsumomo, maybe worse.

Bye-bye Bleach

Right now I don't care about Bleach at all. My favorite character Rukia is getting boring. Ichigo's too generic. And the other 12+ captains/leutenants/other people are boring too. If I don't like the plot, but still admire the characters, there's still hope. But when I dislike the characters, all hope is lost. There's nothing admirable about Rukia now. And I'm getting tired of the fight scenes. Maybe that's cause I'm a girl and could care less about the bloodshed that lasts over 20 pages per fight. I can't stand the romantic fanart of IchigoxRukia at all now.

I was reading One Piece and I like it!

On the brighter note, my minnow had kids! Fifteen of them! They're so cute and adorable. I thought they were tadpoles at first. I never knew she was with child. It'll be cool watching them grow. And I finished my AR book, the Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn.

I think I did horrible on that physics test. And I forgot how to find out if points were collinear on the math test. I'm doomed. [ . .<> ____ <> . . ]

It's all cause of that rally! If I had used more time for homework on Friday, I wouldn't have been in that mess. In any case, I would be furious if I didn't get a high rank in the rally since my other test scores suffered. I am glad I got second though. That must mean everyone else sucks.

I'm trying to improve my chinese by watching movies in chinese! I looked through my parent's movies and wasn't satisfied--one of them was spanish with chinese subs (traditional characters, not simplified!), another dealt with some bikini show, and the other (which seemed perfect since it had subtitles in english and chinese) showed large bloody teeth. In any case, I stopped looking there. I found this VCD with Mickey Mouse (Mi Lao Shu) in it...(don't ask)

It's actually pretty neat--it's black/white so it must've been made a long time ago. The dub is pretty good, and there're chinese subs too (though they're traditional, not simplified even though we got it from mainland China T__TU )

I took a killer Trig. test today. The word problems were insane. Good thing we can finish it up tomorrow. There're so many things I have to do in school: paper plane research paper, english test, Peace Like a River questions, huge powerpoint in spanish, etc. And the physics and english thing is due on the same day >.

On the other side, I won 1st place at an icon contest! It's the first week too. I really should stop using my time (which could've been used for studying) for this.
